The Magnum Opus of Ada Coleman, the first female head bartender of the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel in London. Hanky panky means ”magic’” or ”witchcraft” deriving as a variant of ”hoky-poky” or ”hocus-pocus”. This cocktail is a true work of art.

Gin and honey is a true lovestory. A perfect combination. Did you know that the expression ”bee’s knees” means sweet and good? When the bee flit from flower to flower to collect nectar it sticks on the legs of the bee. So the bee’s knees are where good stuff for the honey is collected. Ingredients: 60 ml Hernö Gin 25 ml honeywater* 20 ml lemon juice Preparation: Shake Hernö Gin, honeywater and fresh lemon juice with ice for about 8 seconds. Strain into a coupette glass or cocktail glass. *To make honeywater, dissolve two parts honey in one part warm water.

International Negroni Week

INTERNATIONAL NEGRONI WEEK. DAY 2. Patrik Tapper, exceptional bartender and master of the art of challenging the conventional, has really crossed a border: A warm Negroni inspired by Irish Coffee. Has he lost his mind? Not at all. This is pure brilliance. And this might be the coolest drink of the season. The Negroni Warmer: 20 ml Hernö Old Tom 20 ml Antica Formula 20 ml Carpano Botanic Bitter 20 ml water 20 ml sugar double cream orange zest or nutmeg Heat it until sugar has dissolved, pour into hot glass and top it with lightly whipped and fluffy double cream. Finish it off by grating some orange zest, or nutmeg if you prefer, on top of the drink.

INTERNATIONAL NEGRONI WEEK. DAY 1. Anna Marxén at the bar Deilig in Varberg, Sweden, associates Hernö Gin with so much more than the products. She's talking about passion, culture and values that catched her the very first moment she discovered Hernö Gin. First out at International Negroni Week, we asked her to share how she serves her favorite Negroni. ”I prefer equal parts (20 ml) Hernö Juniper Cask Gin, Carpano Bitter och Antica Formula served on clear ice. A day in a really good mood I add a grape zest. But mostly I skip the garnish.”.

Devender Sehgal at The Aubrey in Hong Kong is well known for his fabolous Negroni. His variation of this legendary cocktail asks for Hernö Gin with Campari and Antica Formula Vermouth with a touch of Barolo Chinato and a few drops of Orange bitters and Grapefruit Bitters. The orange bitters keep Campari really happy but just for an extra zing he let grapefruit bitters play the role of a mistress. And that thickens the plot of this amazing cocktail. Devender let all of them rest it out over night with Lemon and Orange to get to know each other and blend in well before they show up for their final appearance in your glass. 30 ml Hernö Dry Gin 30 ml Campari 30 ml Sweet Vermouth 15 ml Barolo Chinato 1 dash Grapefruit Bitters 1 dash Orange Bitters Stirred in a mixing glass and served with a big block of ice and orange peel coin on top

INTERNATIONAL NEGRONI WEEK DAY 5. Our tip of the day comes from Johan Wester, distiller at Hernö Gin. He suggests a Negroni containing Hernö Pink BTL Gin, Mancino Rosso Amaranto and Rinomato. Hernö Pink BTL Gin, our juniper forward London Dry Gin with a hint of rose and strawberries, will balance up the sweetness of the vermouth. Together with Rinomato the combination is just perfect. The recipe? Coming up: 30 ml Hernö Pink BTL Gin 30 ml Mancino Rosso Amaranto 30 ml Rinomato Pour Hernö Pink BTL Gin, Mancino Rosso Amaranto and Rinomato into a stirring glass. Stir and then strain the cocktail into an oldfashioned glass or whisky glass filled with ice.

Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin
Media use
Hernö High Coast Terroir is a vintage gin distilled with locally picked botanicals. For the 2020 release Master Distiller and Founder Jon Hillgren got hold of chaga, a rare mushroom found on one out of five thousand Swedish birch trees, even today used for medicinal use but more importantly a great source of vanilla notes and giving depth to the gin. To complement this, the classic Hernö characteristic meadowsweet and even more floral notes with rose petals. To give some acidity Jon decided on flowering sorrel found less than 3 meters from the distillery, all hand-picked. Lastly, the blue forest gold, juniper. This was probably the most challenging to forage this year due to the drought of previous summers. With help from local heroes we managed to source just enough to make a small batch of Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin 2020.

Be led by your dreams and magic will happen. Hernö Gin is the first dedicated gin distillery in Sweden. Our hand hammered copper stills Kierstin and Marit are crafting our award-winning organic gin from natural botanicals. It all began with a passion for gin and a dream evolving to gin crafting. A journey that took Founder and Master Distiller Jon Hillgren to places and gin distilleries all around the world in his thirst for knowledge and his search for ginspiration. When he bought an 1800-century farm in Dala, situated in The High Coast of Sweden, and started to create truly organic, artisan gin inspired by the natural beauty of the region, magic began to happen. Today Hernö Gin is multiple awarded World's Best Gin and the most awarded gin in Europe 2013–2019. Hernö Gin is a dream come true.

Pink Gin is a classic cocktail created with gin and Angostura Bitter. This launch is a statement to clearify the regulations and stay true to the tradition of gin.

Hernö Artisan Ten Gin

Hernö Artisan Ten Gin: One of the first trees to start growing on a bare piece of earth is the birch. A pioneer, just like us. Both also strongly associated with Sweden, festive occations and the countryside. Paying tribute to our origin and our nature, we let Hernö Dry Gin mature on birch casks to celebrate that we started the first gin distillery in Sweden ten years ago. This is a homage to Dala, to our hammered copper still Kierstin who gave birth to our very first Hernö Artisan Gin and to a decade of joy creating gin. Meet Hernö Artisan Ten Gin.

The Vesper Martini is the famous drink ordered by James Bond in Casino Royale. We have taken it further, with a historical interpretation of the fact that the village of Dala was burnt down 300 years ago by the Russians. No blame. And peace on earth. Oh, holy smokes! This is real art. Ingredients 50 ml Hernö Artisan Ten Gin 15 ml Vodka 10 ml Lillet Blanc birch-bark Preparation Add Hernö Artisan Ten Gin, Vodka and Lillet Blanc in a shaker or glass. Shake or stir depending on your mood. Pour into a glass smoked with birch-bark. Want to go real heavy on the smokey notes? Decorate with a burning piece of birch-bark.

The bee’s knees are where good stuff for the honey is collected, since it sticks on the legs of the bee when it flit from flower to flower to collect nectar. We let the bee’s go higher this time and bring us the taste from birch leaves. Ingredients 60 ml Hernö Artisan Ten Gin 25 ml birc and honey water* 20 ml lemon juice Preparation Shake Hernö Artisan Ten Gin, birch and honey water and fresh lemon juice with ice for about 8 seconds. Pure water from our own well, an important ingredient in Hernö Gin. Water is a prerequisite for life and a part of nature’s eternal hydrologic cycle. A renewable natural resource that is a heritage to shield. And a loan to handle with care. Each day we borrow water from mother nature to create our organic gin.
