Big win for Hernö Gin and founder Jon Hillgren at the World Gin Awards

The Gin Guild has recognised Hernö Gin as Distiller of the year and founder Jon Hillgren as Master Distiller of the year at this year's Icons of Gin Awards. Hernö Gin, have an impressive list of previous awards and are currently the world's most award-winning distillery. From yesterdays result they can add two of the most prestigious titles to the collection. The distillery's Hernö Navy Strength Gin was also named World's Best Navy Gin at the World Gin Awards 2024.

Jon founded Sweden's first gin distillery, Hernö Gin, in 2011. His interest in gin started when working as a bartender at The Coach & Horses Soho in London in 1999. Then and there, the idea to create the world's best gin started to grow. An idea that eventually brought him back to his hometown Härnösand in the north of Sweden. It is an excited Jon who sums up the award ceremony in London, where it all began 25 years ago.

-  Bringing these titles home is crazy. It is an incredible honour to be recognized alongside legendary people in the gin world, many of whom are both colleagues and sources of inspiration. This once again indicates that our products are top class. The fact that we are also named distillery of the year is huge. This is all a team effort, I am surrounded by an incredible team both at the distillery in Härnösand and at the bar in Stockholm, says Jon Hillgren.

The Icons of Gin Awards and World Gin Awards honor gin distilleries from all around the world. The competition jury celebrates gin excellence and recognizes the very best people, products and places in the world of gin and the hard work that goes into each bottle. This is the second time Hernö Gin is awarded Distiller of the year and the first time Master Distiller of the year. Previous winners includes Cameron Mackenzie, Four Pillars Australia (2023), Tim Boast, Never Never Distilling Co. Australia (2022) and Lesley Gracie Hendrick's Gin Scotland (2021).

At the World Gin Awards 2024, Hernö Gin Navy Strength Gin was awarded World's Best Navy Gin. The competition is one of the most prestigious gathering entries from all over the world. An expert jury taste all entries blind and points gins from all over the world. The highest scoring gins are named World's Best Gin in the respective entry category.
